 @dmsnell thanks and never mind, it's easy to forget to do on contributor
 days. They're usually pretty hectic.

 @melchoyce in most cases "An error has occurred" is explained in detail on
 the following line. As this ticket is milestoned to be back-ported, I'd
 rather avoid too many string changes and open another ticket to improve
 the less insulting error messaging generally.
