Comment:

 OK, so then the issue is not specifically regarding the audio widget but
 rather media in general.

 Regarding using an FTP URL for referencing an MP3, this is not going to be
 supported by browsers. I understand that both Chrome and Firefox are
 removing support for using FTP URLs for embedded resources.
