 Another thing not mentioned: updates should be disabled when a plugin's
 minimum PHP version is increased, if the server is running to low of a
 version. Ideally the update would still be shown to the user, but they
 would be shown an error message and wouldn't be able to install the
 update. I implemented something similar to this in a plugin in
 anticipation of upping the required version:
