 Gratuitous self-promotion: my [https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-
 monitor/ Query Monitor plugin] catches errors in AJAX requests, alerts you
 to them in the admin toolbar, and displays their details in the browser
 console. Prevents the sort of breakage mentioned in this ticket.
