 Fun fact: with the two-line change in list-pages-args.diff​ alone, we no
 longer need the much longer 8592.3.patch, and can do almost everything
 with filters. (See updated https://gist.github.com/sillybean/4091448.)

 New parent status check patch includes the filters, but also tinkers with
 the publish metabox and admin-ajax functions to start enforcing
 unpublished parents' status on their child pages.
