 What if we had the ability to apply "try" a core patch automatically?

 1.) Check out a clean repository
 2.) Apply the patch
 3.) Run the unit tests
 4.) Obtain a report
 5.) Clean up

 This could open up some future possibilities for automating feedback on
 trac tickets and encouraging unit test usage.
