 Say I have page x. I create a new post adding a hyperlink to page x and
 publish it. WordPress pings back to my own blog!

 Example: http://mahadeo.net/projects/

 Suggested Fix: WordPress should try to identify if the link is to the same
 blog and not ping any such addresses.
