 The append field was changed so that it uses proper keys based on taxonomy
 and post types rather than translated strings.  The patch changes it back
 to translated strings.  Is the object field now being used in its place?
 What is append for? It seems fairly useless. We should not be persisting
 translated strings. Translations can change.
