 it doesn't work at all, even. what I had to do when I changed my own, was
 this:

  1. mass-delete the .svn folders
  2. svn export to overwrite all of the site's files
  3. svn co in a tmp folder
  4. copy tmp/* to the site

 step 3 is important because of the svn:externals. doing a simple svn co
 --force fails because of akismet.
