Comment:

 Also, it sucks if developers can't make a site compliant with XHTML Strict
 with a theme alone.

 That would mean that if I were a theme developer creating XHTML Strict
 themes, I'd also have to distribute a plugin along with my theme, which my
 customers would have to install and activate in addition to installing and
 activating the theme; or else I'd have to require them to manually edit
 the database.

 Neither of those solutions is really satisfactory.
