Okay, after looking over the patch, I made a change to remove the error
messaging from the template altogether. This is something that, IMO,
should always be displayed on the page regardless of whether the author
included it in the template or not. This means that the patch is not
smaller any more, but the sample login page is. Unfortunately, it does
break compatibility with the previous patch, but all you need to modify to
make it work is to remove any call you made to login_header_error() in
your template. It is now automatically called immediately after the
header in all cases.
