We'd need to see the theme to see what their "strange" way is. It may not be
something that should be expected to work. Or, it may honestly be a bug.
You're welcome to send the theme to me so it can be evaluate (it's GPL, and
I won't use it), or you can request that WooThemes contacts me directly.

We recently crossed a milestone of 3000 changes to WordPress since 2.9.
It'll be a lot easier to track down the problem from the source of the
problem, versus trying to determine what code change might have done it.
