Andreas,

You can get the latest nightly build at 
http://wordpress.org/nightly-builds/wordpress-latest.zip

Once you install that, then the auto update feature will be available to 
you.

The 'newest version' is still in testing so be aware that using the testing 
version for a live blog is done at your risk.
