Maybe something along the lines the below to make explicit to those not familiar with US rating system:

G = Suitable for all
PG = May offend
R = Not suitable for under 17's
X = Very likely to offend

Interestingly the system (as far as I can see) is not explained on the Gravatar site - eg

Everything is marked for translation, so other languages can use
whatever they like.  English speakers who use a different ratings
system might be annoyed if they have to load localization just for the
ratings, however.  If anyone has better names, let's hear them.
