WP 1.5 / 1.5.1 alpha does a pretty good job to detect and tag spam comments.

Spam comments are then saved in the database but not displayed on the site.
There is no easy way to see the comments tagged as spam from the admin
interface.

Here comes an interesting plug-in : Paged Comments.

One of the fucntion it provides is to allow a display of ALL comments
even (or only) those tagged as spam.
With this plug in you can browse trough those comments and perhaps
save a legitimate comment tagged as spam (it happened to me )
