 You are right.

But I find that the problem is bit more complex than that.

To wit, not only my translated files (.po & .mo) disappear on each
auto-update, the strings that are input on the plugin's
option/settings menu in my language are also getting overwritten. I
have to rewrite them after each upgrade. But this doesn't happen with
the Lesterchen plugins. It happened to me with ones like Contact Form
7.

This will become a regular pain if you have many such installations in
your language.

I think the only solution left for people like me is not to use
automatic upgrade of plugins until a workaround is made available.
