[wp-polyglots] Automatic update in 2.7 for local distributions

In 2.7, WordPress will start supporting one-click upgrades - allowing the
core install to be upgraded in the same way plugins in recent versions. This
is similar to the functionality offered by the WordPress Automatic Upgrade
plugin:

How will this new feature support local distributions of WordPress? Will
this work with wordpress-i18n repository? Will there be a safe way to
upgrade an installation of a  local distribution to the newest version of
the same distribution without breaking it?
