I play with all kinds of projects and I can see your issues. But the issues is, should it be in core? And the rule is if 80% of the users will benefit from it then it will. Which is not always the case tho.
The issue is that you think in "I" and not in WordPress user base in general. What is fine.

If you know a better way for storing options then create a ticket and patch the issue. I doubt that you will find one since with data serialization you can store lots of things. JSON was one time mentioned but has limitations.

I think always to other people and it seems that you only think in the position you are (how many "we do"). And as told that is fine but please don't get angry when you don't get it your way.
If you know me you would have known that I have comments on features and the process of handling tickets.
