Hi,

This issue http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/17860 which has been
dormant for 14 months has just bitten us hard. I'd like to rekindle some
interest in this & trying to solve it, but it seems no decission has
been made in what direction the solution should be sought.

So any core developer want to chime in? We're very much willing to help
out & have resources to do so.

ps: We're working on a big (+30K people WordPress Multisite install) and
this bug makes user management virtually impossible.
