I agree, this should be an included feature in a large official transfer 
project.  I've done it a number of times with home built php code for 
wp2.9 and also (what turned out to be just as easy) a simple mysql 
export and edit of the .sql.  So there is a need for it even if 98% of 
WordPress users wouldn't even understand what the option does.
