[wp-hackers] selling a premium plugin

I think there is a lot more to it the more you think about it. For example how will you provide updates to the plugin? I really struggle with the concept of sharing my source code with the world because of the potential for people to share it without paying me. After thrashing it out on here a few months back I think the general consensus is that you can never really protect it from determined thieves!

The only way I could think of protecting my source code whilst staying within the gpl was to write the functionality separate to wp and provide an api. Then the actual plugin is simply a bunch of api calls to your bespoke and now protected code.

Hope my ramblings are in some way useful to you!

Andy
