[wp-hackers] WordPress roadmap

I think this is a rather short-sighted viewpoint of the purpose of a roadmap
for a project of the size and maturity of WordPress.

Dates and goals can, will, and do change; but it helps *everyone* to have
some long-term vision laid out for the project - especially for a project
that depends on contributions from a diverse community. Having expectations
that change based on changing circumstances is far superior to having no
expectations at all.

I'm sure, somewhere, internally to the core devs, some sort of long-term
roadmap exists. Personally, I'm fine with that group maintaining that
roadmap (no need for bikesheds), but I think it would only benefit the
contributor community (and, for that matter, parts of the potential user
community) if more of the roadmap were made public.
