I agree on this.  At this point the existing ones should be removed and new
(but much harder to find) ones should be implemented.

Even the config file option proposed below (and above) requires one to know
it exists beforehand.

IMHO, the WP committers need to understand that eggs are detrimental to WP's
reputation as a professional-quality tool.
