[wp-hackers] Style.css calls the shots?

Wouldn't scanning thru the folder names under the /themes give the same result?

I'm not saying/suggestion, the current way is bad or anything. I'm
just trying to understand why the choice was made that way. Why do we
have to have template name definen in the style.css? There must be a
reason.
