Yes, that is very related. It sums up my two main issues very well: 1) 
Wordpress shouldn't care about UID, but merely "can I write?", and 2) If 
there must be a check on UID's, at least explain why it won't upgrade 
the plugins. It's good to see it's not just me. :)
