[wp-hackers] Status of mu-plugins

Hi,

Since the merge with WordPress Mu seems to be finished I was wondering 
if the mu-plugins directory will stay part of the future of WordPress?

I'm asking since I'm planning to rewrite a plugin to make use of 
mu-plugin directory (automatically activated for a multisite) since the 
plugin is only useful for a complete multisite installation.
