Won't work either.

It looks like user names that were imported into BuddyPress profiles
from forum accounts (where they had to adhere to less strict naming
conventions) have a chance of breaking BuddyPress assumptions about
valid profile names.

This apparently leads to 404s all over the WordPress ecosystem.
