Small semantic point: your first sentence doesn't really parse.
Subversion is a SCM, while GitHub is a Git-powered collaborative
development/code hosting site. A closer analog would be perhaps
SourceForge.net's SVN hosting capabilities.
SVN:Git:Mercurial::SF.net's SVN hosting:GitHub:Bitbucket
Just so no one ends up confused.
