Great comment. But you are off a bit on the analogy which I only bring up so that people don't misunderstand StackExchange and how it relates to this proposal.
Wikia allows anyone to create a Wiki who wants to, and there can be as many wikis on the same topic as people want to create. Wikia is like Ning used to be and Facebook and LinkedIn still are in that regard.
StackExchange however takes proposals and only accepts them when there is enough demand to create a vibrant community. Further, SE won't create more than one exchange on a selected topic; i.e. they won't create a wp-exchange.org and a wp-answers.org. Much like the Highlander, there can be only one. :)
