[wp-hackers] Preparing a site for high traffic

I attached a list of the queries to the original e-mail. There are  
some core queries that are taking seconds to complete if they're not  
cached, for example:

SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS rb_posts.* FROM rb_posts WHERE 1=1 AND  
rb_posts.post_type = 'post' AND (rb_posts.post_status = 'publish' OR  
rb_posts.post_status = 'private') ORDER BY rb_posts.post_date DESC  
LIMIT 0, 10

which took 1.12 seconds to execute. Has anyone else had similar  
problems with large WordPress sites?
