That is a very nice search, never occurred to me either.  I just ran it on
the theme repository and only got a handful of results:
http://www.google.com/search?q=get_transient+site:http://themes.svn.wordpress.org/<http://www.google.com/search?q=get_transient+site:http://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/>
Looks like not many theme authors are taking advantage of the transient api.
