PHP 5 tends to be a lot easier and a lot faster, is all.

There's a lot of really handy functions in newer PHP versions and
writing them yourself in PHP 4 is a pain in the arse. And then some
things are simply impossible to do in PHP 4 (proper timezone support,
for example).

Also, PHP 5.1 is about 4 times faster than PHP 4, on average.
