How about releasing the source code so that those who wish to use it can?
Or, better yet, release as a plugin.
While self-hosted WordPress needs to be as easy to set up as possible, to
cater for the masses, there are a very large number of more advanced users
who already build on core functionality with additional scripting and who
manage their own servers. A plugin for .org and MU would be well-received.
Pretty please?
