[wp-hackers] Recommended Themes & Plugins for a Workshop?

I'd personally say it is appropriate because even if it's not about
hacking it's about doing stuff for the community. I guess we can't
have 0% noise on this list, since one's signal can be another's noise,
or something like this. But again this is just my pov, feel free to
yell "INAPPROPRIATE!!!1" at me :)

Anyway, as for Mike's question, I would show one plugin per topic that
would show users how extensible WP can be, such as:
- SEO (don't like them, pick one, probably All In Pack or whatever its name is)
- Stats (WordPress.com Stats)
- Images / Gallery integration
- Anti spam (Akismet)
- Contact Form
- Social stuff (Share this or alikes)
- Admin area extensions (I'd toot my own Admin Drop Down Menu of
course, or anything that brings a cosmetic change)
- Performance (a caching plugin)
- Tags management
- Feeds (my own Better Feed, or Feedsmith, anything that could lead to
a "what's feed and what for" discussion)

Cheers

Ozh
