[wp-hackers] Categories empty on all blogs after PHP upgrade

Are you using PHP/APC-based object caching?

I encountered a bug when trying to use APC as the WordPress object  
cache that was very similar to what you describe. I never did resolve  
it, just switched to Memcached.
