Okay, this is for Mac users only.  If you don't like using the WP Rich- 
text editor, you need to know that TextMate is the coolest post editor  
evar.

Learn a few shortcuts (such as control-shift-< ), and check out the  
"Blogging" bundle.  Write your post and take advantage of excellent  
markup shortcuts, then post directly to your blog.
