I've been taking a peek at http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5028 and
got a bit confused, so I figured I'd ask here...

It seems like support for a category's last_update_timestamp has
pretty much been removed in trunk. I've tested this out and can
reproduce it as of r7383.

I can't figure out where/how the last_update_timestamp is actually
determined either, or even what it refers to exactly (last post time,
last category edit time, something else?). Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm new, btw. I've been using Wordpress for a couple of months and
just finished a big project using WP where I had to make some custom
plugins and as a result I've become pretty interested in WP dev and
I'd like to help out in some way if I can :)
