+1. I have a 22" monitor (at 1680x1050), and I'd like to be able to use all
of it if I want to (and I do want to).

I really don't see why this is becoming such a big deal. Don't set a
max-width, and if people on larger monitors (or resolutions) want the width
to be smaller, then they can use that nifty little feature, available in all
modern operating systems, to resize their browser window. Simple as that.

Yes, it may be proven that most people prefer to read/type on a certain
sized textbox, but why should WordPress be "advocating" this? Usability? No,
because most people use larger monitors for *greater usability*.
