[wp-hackers] Post Meta Plugin - Post ID

I'm working on a plugin that add's to the post meta area.  I need to 
save a value.  What i wanted to do was to have a button that would save 
the data over ajax, the problem im running into is how to save a post 
draft at the same time so I have a post ID for the meta value - any 
suggestions?  Thanks!
