[wp-hackers] Plugin auto-update deleting more files than I'd like

I haven't used it in public plugins, but I just store files in new
folders under /wp-content/, then edit them using my own basic editing
screen that calls the specific files.

Really though, it's probably easier to just let them edit an option
holding the formatting (if they dont' like the default) and use that
to define layout rather than using actual files, which seems like it
will always make a mess for some systems (I like to use files for
backups of complex option info though, as it's not the end of hte
world if it doesn't work and you have a file backup in case you have
to ditch your whole DB for some reason).
