Something not too dissimilar to that was when Writely Beta wasn't owned
by Google, and they used a "beta meter", where each user had access to a
vote box at the top of each screen, and the question asked was this:
"Do you think Writely is ready for prime-time yet?"
Yes / No
And above the message was a meter that showed the ratio of Yes:No
answers. You could change your vote at any time. They said when the
meter reached 100%, they would take Writely out of beta.
However, since being acquired by Google, and being subsequently renamed
to "Google Docs & Spreadsheets", the beta meter is now -poof- vanished.
