People do so recognize, but we're not inserting bold and italic. We;re 
inserting strong and em, which may not be styled as bold or italic.

Even more annoyingly, when I really want italic, I press the i button 
and I don't get italic. Instead I get em.

There's a disconnect between what the buttons say and what they do.
