[wp-hackers] Post style buttons

The button bar at the top of the edit post text area have been bothering 
me for  awhile. Can these be customized> Is there any interest in 
changing them in the default? In particular I would like:

1. Change i to em for two reasons:

     A. em is not just a magically better version of i. It is not 
necessarily styled in italic, and it does not repllce all uses of italics.
     B. The single letter i button is simply too small an dtoo hard to 
hit with the mouse.

2. Change b to strong, for pretty much the same reasons

3. Add an abbr button for abbreviations.

4. Add a span button which would pop up a dialog asking me to specify a 
class (like link asks me for a URL)

Thoughts? Would these or any other set of changes going to be 
reasonnable for everyone, or is everyone going to want a slightly 
different button config? If the latte, should the button bar be 
customizable in some way short of hacking the code?
