[wp-hackers] mod rewrite problems

I've added right after RewriteBase /digitalcamera/ but it's still displaying
the 404 error inside the Wordpress template. 

I created the following simple .htaccess file:
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /digitalcamera/
#the following line should redirect to test.html
RewriteRule ^/test.html$ /test/test.html
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /digitalcamera/index.php
</IfModule>
# END WordPress

The test directory is located at /digitalcamera/test.
So if I type in http://myhost.com/digitalcamera/test.html it should use mod
rewrite to display http://myhost.com/digitalcamera/test/test.html, but it
doesn't. As I said, it's still displaying the 404 error inside the Wordpress
template.

Any ideas?
