That's 100% true, and something that I forgot to mention.
But besides the WP-Core, one just has to look at the plethora of WP-Plugins
that make life so much easier with the use of AJAX (Tag Warrior!!!)...

What we're saying here isn't anything that hasn't before been said and
discussed in very great detail on newsgroups and IRC channels all around
the web, and there is no good answer.

AJAX is obviously here to stay, and everyone agrees that too much of a good
thing is terrible.
But the problem is, no two can decide on just how much is too much; hence
all the problems we're having with AJAX and Web 2.0 in general.

There is no "safe" way to limit AJAX and completely removing it in
standards is a preposterous and impossible suggestion, it all goes back to
us Devs and what we make of it - the same with any other technology.

The dynamic adding of categories is extremely useful and a good example of where Ajax hiding the GET/POST process works well...
