[wp-hackers] Critical WP Flaw?

it doesn't make much sense. it would seem to me that there would have at
least been some discussion or a trac ticket of an issue that was that big of
a deal. wouldn't unchecking "anyone can register" effectively eliminate the
whole possibility or process of a user "registering" on a site anyway ? I
see that matt made a post over there, and it doesn't look like he's really
answered with any real information. 

ps. you'll note that I've copied you personally on the reply, it looks like
I'm either having some kind of problem with my comcast email or something is
up with the wp-lists today. I've sent in a couple of posts which haven't
shown up, and I've only started receiving posts from any of the lists in the
past hour or so today. have you noticed any problems ? I'm also wondering of
mcafee's anti-worm nonsense is stopping anything I'm sending to wp-
anything.
