This email is not for support, but for people who give support to communicate (though we do generally use Slack these days).
That said:
a) Yes, 2010 is fine though make sure he updated it to the latest version.
b) Really fast, try changing the theme (in the db, wp_siteID_options, edit template and stylesheet to 2015 or whatever).
