I'm sure that happens but I don't really worry about that. The forums do 
let members put their link in the profile and it's natural for people to 
click that link (when and if the Magic Link Activation Profile Thing™ 
happens for that member).

It's the overt contacting that's not good. Many forum members do make a 
living creating WordPress sites (and I support that) but soliciting 
people to contact you off site moves too far into self promotion territory.
