FYI I'm keeping an eye on this plugin author who is using the free forum to
support his commercial "premium" plugin.

I came across this thread and was about to suggest they take it to the
plugin's site.

My problem is that the premium page's forum link is just an RSS feed to the
free plugin's sub-forum.

The commercial forum *is* the WordPress.ORG sub-forum. That's not cool and
I've replied on that thread. I've also b'coded the user just to keep an eye
on any further replies.
This came up late last year (see

the background) and again I want plugin authors to be wildly
successful.
But if someone is going to charge for a commercial version then they really
need to take their business off of the WordPress support forums.
