[wp-forums] What's the protocol for adding new mods?

I know HOW to (the virtue of having run bbPress 1.0 before). But I don't know ... er ... how to. I mean if I'm allowed to would be a better way to phrase it. If there's someone I see being all kick ass on the forums, helping and marking threads modlook, can I just make 'em a mod and tell y'all?
